Article published!

My article, The satellites in the farmland: a visit to SCOLA has been published in the Nebraska Library Association Quarterly. I’m working on a few other articles, so I hope to have more news like this soon. :)

Back to class…

Tomorrow class (Designing Computer Supported Collaborative Learning) starts. Should be interesting- what’s normally an 8 week class is being compressed into 4. I think I’ll really enjoy it, though.

My days of lazing about the house and reading have come to an end (for now). But I’m not too sad. :)

The best thing I’ve read all week…

Over at Neil Gaiman’s Journal, he is having his daughter, Maddy Gaiman, guest post. I’m enjoying these posts immensely, and keep saying to myself “I can’t believe she’s 12!”

I’ve subscribed… finally.

I’ve been avoiding mailing lists for a long time because… well… I sorta hate them. I don’t find them to be a particurally useful way to communicate.  However! Now that I have Gmail and can assign labels on the fly and view threaded conversations, they’re much better. I get really annoyed now when people changed the subject line for no good reason, though.

The shushing conference

I had the joy of trying to explain to someone that I’m going to a librarian conference the other day. The response? “Oh, that will be exciting! shhhhhh!”

In the beginning I didn’t mind the shushing jokes, but they’re starting to bug me a little. But it’s a sign that  we REALLY need to change our public image, starting with our own communities.
